Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels: Why I Switched to the Free One (And You Probably Should Too)

One costs £0 and gives you unlimited funnels. The other costs £97/mo and is the most famous name in the category. I tested both with real funnels and real email sequences. The result surprised me — and it’ll probably surprise you too.

The short version

For most people — and I mean 90% of people reading this — Systeme.io is the right choice. It does 95% of what ClickFunnels does, the free plan is genuinely usable, and the paid plans start at £27/mo instead of £97. You give up some polish and the template marketplace, but you keep roughly £1,164 per year in your pocket.

ClickFunnels still wins if you need the best template marketplace, the strongest community and training, or if you’re building complex multi-step funnels at scale. But “I need ClickFunnels” is increasingly a niche position in 2026. Systeme.io closed the gap faster than anyone expected.

Where Systeme.io wins

  • Actually free. Not “free trial, then £97/mo.” Free. Forever. The free plan gives you 3 funnels, 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, a blog, course hosting, and the affiliate management tool. You can build and sell a product without ever entering a credit card. That’s not a trial — that’s a business platform.
  • Built-in everything. Systeme.io includes funnel building, email marketing, course hosting, blog platform, affiliate management, membership sites, and even a physical products module — all under one login. ClickFunnels charges extra for some of these (or doesn’t offer them at all).
  • 60% lifetime affiliate commissions. If you refer someone to Systeme.io, you earn 60% of every payment they ever make. ClickFunnels offers up to 40% recurring. That 20% difference compounds into thousands over the lifetime of a customer. More importantly, Systeme.io’s affiliate programme is open to everyone — you don’t need to be a customer. ClickFunnels requires you to be an active user.
  • Clean, modern interface. ClickFunnels can feel like it was designed by committee. Systeme.io is cleaner — fewer menus, less visual noise, faster page loads. If you’ve ever stared at ClickFunnels’ dashboard trying to find the right button, you’ll appreciate this immediately.

Where ClickFunnels wins

  • Template marketplace. ClickFunnels has the largest library of pre-built funnel templates in the industry. If you want to launch a webinar funnel, a product launch funnel, or a membership site funnel in an afternoon — not design it from scratch — ClickFunnels saves you serious time.
  • Training and community. ClickFunnels’ training ecosystem — Affiliate Bootcamp, One Funnel Away Challenge, Funnel Hacking Live — is unmatched. If you learn best through structured courses and an active community, ClickFunnels delivers more than Systeme.io’s help docs and email support.
  • Split testing. ClickFunnels has built-in A/B testing for funnel pages. Systeme.io doesn’t offer this natively. If you’re optimising conversion rates across multiple variants, ClickFunnels wins here.
  • Third-party integrations. ClickFunnels integrates with more payment gateways, email providers, and webinar platforms than Systeme.io. If your tech stack is complex and you need specific integrations, ClickFunnels has the broader ecosystem.

What you actually get at each price point

Systeme.io Free (£0/mo): 3 funnels, 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, blog, courses, affiliate management. Enough to validate a product and make your first sales.

Systeme.io Startup (£27/mo): 5,000 contacts, 10 funnels, custom domains, automated webinars. The sweet spot for a solo operator with a few products.

ClickFunnels Basic (£97/mo): 20 funnels, 1 domain, 3 users, email follow-ups, course builder. The entry point — and you’re already paying more than Systeme.io’s highest plan.

ClickFunnels Platinum (£297/mo): Unlimited funnels, 3 domains, 10 users, affiliate management (Backpack). This is where ClickFunnels actually competes — but at a price point that’s 11x Systeme.io’s Startup plan.

The honest truth about “brand name” funnel builders

ClickFunnels has the brand. Russell Brunson built a marketing empire around it. The training, the events, the community — it’s a genuine ecosystem.

But here’s the thing: the funnel builder is a commodity in 2026. Every platform does drag-and-drop pages. Every platform does order bumps and upsells. Every platform does email sequences. The technology has converged. What hasn’t converged is the pricing — and that’s where Systeme.io wins by a mile.

I don’t say this lightly. ClickFunnels built this category. But building a category and being the best value in it are two different things. Systeme.io is eating ClickFunnels’ lunch from the bottom up, and the pricing gap makes it hard to recommend anything else unless you specifically need ClickFunnels’ templates or community.

The verdict

Start with Systeme.io’s free plan. Build a funnel. Sell something. Get your first customers. If you outgrow it — and most people won’t for at least a year — then consider whether ClickFunnels’ templates and training are worth the extra £70-£270 per month.

The only scenario where I’d recommend ClickFunnels as a first choice is if you’re already deep in the ClickFunnels ecosystem — you’ve done the training, you know the templates, your existing funnels are built there. Switching costs are real. But if you’re starting fresh? Systeme.io. It’s not even close.
