When to Choose Kinsta

Different tools suit different teams. Here’s where Kinsta fits best.

Ecommerce stores where page speed is revenue

Kinsta's containerised infrastructure and edge caching consistently place it in the top tier for WordPress performance. If a one-second slowdown costs you conversions, the premium pays for itself in recovered sales.

Businesses that want WordPress hosting they never think about

Automatic daily backups, a malware removal guarantee, and updates handled at the platform level mean you're not doing server maintenance. For a business owner who wants hosting to just work, Kinsta is the set-and-forget option.

Agencies building sites for clients who value speed

The staging-to-production workflow, free migrations, and per-site isolation make it clean to hand over a finished site. Clients see the speed immediately, which reflects well on you.

How it went

I deployed a WordPress site on Kinsta's Starter plan, ran TTFB and LCP benchmarks against SiteGround and Bluehost using identical page content, tested the automatic daily backups by restoring to a previous version, and used the staging environment to push a theme change to production. I also tested the free migration by moving a test site over. Performance was the clear winner, TTFB was roughly half of the shared hosts I compared it against.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kinsta worth $35/mo?

For a single high-traffic WordPress site, yes. Kinsta runs on Google Cloud Platform's premium tier, and the performance difference versus a $5 shared host is measurable, I saw TTFB drop by over half in my tests. The $35 Starter covers 25,000 visits, more than most small businesses need. Where it gets expensive is scaling, every visit tier above that costs significantly more.

Why is Kinsta more expensive than SiteGround?

Infrastructure and focus. Kinsta only does WordPress on Google Cloud's fastest VMs, with edge caching and a containerised setup. SiteGround uses its own servers and bundles more, email and domain, at a lower price. Kinsta's premium buys raw speed and a developer-grade toolset. If you don't need the extra speed, SiteGround is better value. If every millisecond is revenue, Kinsta earns its price.

Does Kinsta offer phone support?

No, chat and ticket only. The trade-off is that the chat support is genuinely excellent, WordPress specialists who solve problems fast, not script-readers. If you need to talk to a human on the phone during a crisis, Kinsta isn't for you. If you're comfortable with fast, competent chat support, it's actually a strength.

Final Verdict

If every millisecond is revenue, Kinsta's the one. It runs on Google Cloud's fastest tier and it shows in the load times. If you don't need the raw speed, SiteGround is better value at a third of the price.
